With its innovative MOA, Vafseo harnesses the body’s natural response to hypoxia to stimulate endogenous EPO production1-4

Vafseo is a HIF-PHI that activates the HIF pathway to stimulate
endogenous EPO production2-4

In patients with anemia due to CKD, impaired oxygen sensing in kidney cells can lead to insufficient activation of the HIF pathway.5,6

Vafseo increases cellular levels of HIF transcription factors2

Illustration depicting how Vafseo increases cellular levels of HIF transcription factors, which leads to endogenous EPO production

Vafseo is the only HIF-PHI available for adults with anemia due to CKD on dialysis for at least 3 months2

* In response to hypoxia or a HIF-PHI, HIF stimulates EPO production in the kidneys and liver.4

HIF is regulated by oxygen-dependent PHD enzymes3-5,7

Vafseo pharmacodynamics: EPO response in healthy male subjects2,9

In healthy subjects receiving a single dose of Vafseo (80 mg to 1200 mg, 0.27 to 4 times the recommended starting dose), mean
EPO levels were measured over 24 hours.2,9

Vafseo in healthy subjects9

Data are derived from a Phase 1 study in 48 healthy adult men (n=6/dose for Vafseo and n=12 for placebo) receiving a single dose of Vafseo (80 mg to 1200 mg) or placebo.9

These findings are presented for descriptive purposes and are not conclusive. Doses used in these trials are reflective of the tablet strengths available at that time.9

Vafseo should be titrated in 150 mg increments, with a recommended starting dose of 300 mg and a dosing range of 150 mg to 600 mg.2
